I should know not to open animal threads until I have taken off my mascara for the night...sniff...sending Tar my very best healing thoughts and prayers. The
belly band is a good idea , if needed.

I am so sorry to hear about Tar. He sounds like a great dog who has a wonderful life with you. I agree with Westerberg - I wish they could be with us forever.
I posted here this summer when my dog Alex becames sick this summer at 12 and we had to put him down. The responses I got here helped so much. Our extended
family really understood too. I always felt like Alex was part of my heart and from the time he was a puppy I dreaded that day. We all still miss him so much.

I'm so sorry
Poor thing.
Are the pills he's on for incontinence? My lab starting having incontinence, and the vet put her on Proin - I give her a chewable before bed (she thinks it's a bedtime treat ) and I haven't had a problem since.

Oh no...I am so so SO sorry to hear this. It is so hard...I can really relate. It's so heartwarming to think of our pets being around for a longgggg
life, what a lucky dog you have. It is a beautiful thing, and so so painful witnessing in their decline.
I often think of this...my kitty Mikey is only 2, but we have an airtight bond...he's my little buddy...and I get so much comfort in knowing that he will (hopefully, God-willing) be with me for more than the next decade...and at the same time, that makes me sad, thinking about how hard it will be when he's gone. By then, he will have gotten me through just about everything. I will keep ol' Tar in my thoughts and prayers, and you as well. Hugs to you both! !

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I feel like Tar is part of my family too. I've enjoyed hearing all the stories thru the years and I'm
praying that with the vet's help I'll be hearing lots more.
Hugs. |

I am so sorry to hear this. I personally think one should not consider euthanizing an animal with bladder problems until you have considered all avenues, as
they may not be on their way out, it may be a mild infection, weak kidneys, etc. As someone who has had many UTIs and suffered times when I wanted to pee my
own carpet, try thinking about changing diet, treating an infection, etc. I know my friend's animal was treated w/ acupuncture for incontinence and he
lives many more years with almost no bladder problems, after he was treated. If he is still active, and happy, then it may be a discrete problem. I'll be
keeping him in my thoughts, I hope he can get through this, he sounds like the love of your life...
