OT: need help buying a digital TV |
Lead | ||
|
I need to upgrade my TV set to a flat screen digital, and I want it to be as cheap as possible. I do not have a clue about what I should be looking for. Does
anyone have a link to an online guide, or any guidelines I should follow, or any specific recommendations?
TIA!

Here is a great video that tells you the difference between 720p and 1080i TV's. Main difference PRICE!!! LOL LOL So whatever TV you get, get the 720p. I
have a 36" Sony Bravia 720p and a 20" LG Flat Screen. They are both GREAT pictures. A 1080p is supposed the be the best you can get, but unless you
are putting this TV in a large room, it doesn't do you any more good than the 720p. So price wise, you can get away with a 720p and still get the same
quality picture.
But check out this video. It's great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-JXfyvlPh0&feature=related

the difference between 720p and 1080i TV's. Main difference PRICE!!! What Emeraldcity said. To the average person, the difference between 720p and 1080i is virtually undetectable. I have a 19" TruTech in my bedroom that I purchased at Target. I've had it for over a year and it's awesome. It has a built in DVD player and I got the whole shebang for $230. Not bad! With digital broadcasts, the reception is crystal clear. It's a 720p and unless I'm 3 feet from the screen or closer, I can't see any pixels at all. From an average sitting distance it's fantastic. You can get a decent 32" for around $450 today if you shop around. My Mom and her sister both got Vizio 32" sets for Christmas last year and they're awesome. Very inexpensive and great pic/sound quality. There are days when I swear I could fly like an eagle

Buzzers to the rescue again. I was just making way through this bewildering world too!
And can I just say, my digital converter box sucks. It's always overheating. This is the main reason I'm thinking of converting. |

Thanks ya'll! I have done some online looking around but haven't been able to shop in a real store since I broke my toes on Sunday. I hope that by the
end of the week I will feel like going out to look and hopefully make a purchase.

We have a 54" Samsung DLP 1080 that we love. It will 'upgrade' older pictures and DVDs to a better picture. Good deal and no problems *knock on
wood* as of yet.

We have a 46" Samsung LCD 1080p.
I did a lot of research here before making our purchase: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=7&f=40
