You DEF need rollers... my mother sports a similar look with longer hair and she uses sponge rollers...

OH my gosh! It's Sherilyn Fenn! IMO the most beautiful woman right after Liz Taylor. Gorgeous! Love the hair, too. Love classic beautiful. Love it.

Wow. Is she gorg or what?
Yeah, rollers of some sort. Sponge or hot. Small ones I would think. We want pics!!

Could the EMI dryer achieve that style?

I think that you shouldn't brush through your hair after removing the rollers, just use your fingers to style it.

I did my hair like that for a Christmas party a few years ago - I used sponge rollers. It held up pretty well but I did use lots of spray. When I took them
out I let them sit of a bit then use my fingers to style.

Andrea-
If you have a Sally's near you, get some Lottabody styling lotion and dilute it with water (directions on the bottle) use that on wet hair before you put in the rollers and it should hold the curl well. Lots of hairspray helps too!

Thanks everyone.
Okay I tried it with hot rollers yesterday and it didn't get near the waviness going on. I think the smaller sponge rollers are the key. Thanks for the product rec Melissa. I've been on a total retro/vintage kick lately and I keep thinking I should hit you up for all your favorite links.

Love that style. You can totally rock this look Andrea. Don't forget the red hot lips.

Andrea,
I love that 'do! Maybe you could also try for something a little bit softer like Marion Cotillard's hair in Public Enemies? This:
