Are you FREAKING kidding me?! Teen girl Halloween costumes?! |

They ALL look like "hookers in training"! Who on EARTH would allow their teen age girl to WEAR this stuff? (www.partycity.com). OMG. I am SO GLAD I have all boys. Really. Man, my daughter would HATE me, lol. Not to mention how sad I
find this. SO very very sad. CJ

I'm wondering what parent would spend that much on a costume a teenager would probably only use once. Y'know, 'cuz at that age you're not
suppose to wear a costume twice around ppl who've already seen it. =)
...then again, back in the day I knew someone who authentically dressed up like Wonder Woman and filled out her costume very well. =T But the skirts and shorts I wore back then were just as as short, if not shorter, than the ones in that link...and I was definitely not tart-looking back then LOL. |

You know, maybe an 18 or 19 year old, but these are directed at 13 year olds and pre-teens too. Sorry, inappropriate in my world, I don't care how great
your body is (said by someone who at 10, could pass for an 18 year old VERY easily......) CJ

Granted I was a sophomore in high school 17 years ago but no one dressed up then, and through most of high school. Most of us were really tired of being
dressed up for something homecoming dress up day related the week or two before that we just dismissed Halloween altogether. If we did do something we most
likely just wore our clean homecoming week dress up costumes. It didn't really come back into fashion much until college, so those Party City costumes
would be much more appropriate for that age group.

I remember in the 3rd grade (in 1968, mind you) a girl got sent home from school on Halloween because she was dressed up as a Playboy bunny - complete with a
martini on a serving tray
You know she didn't come up with that costume on her own.
Parents really need to monitor what their CHILDREN are wearing - Halloween or otherwise. I am for freedom of expression when dressing but not the over-sexualization of little girls and boys.

Well I mean come on now. Is it ever too early to teach our girls their true worth? Maybe it's good that at age 13 they learn that as long as they can
attract a man they are of value?

I am happy to report I am doing Zombie Make-up for Mrs.Murray's 8th grade class girls. They are going as the "Thriller Video"
Nothing but flannel, old dresses, and liquid latex here!

Disgusting...and I find it equally as revolting when grown adults dress like sluts on Halloween, I never understood why it is everybody considers it a free
pass to be a total skank. Have some self-respect. I have plenty of friends who do this and I see it online constantly. gag. Don't even get me going.
Oh
you already did haha

Times have certainly changed! I remember when I was 10 my Mom made me an "I Dream of Jeannie" costume with my belly sticking out and my FATHER was
freaking out - it was just my BELLY - belly-button and all. But I was a flat-chested girl until puberty so there was absolutely NOTHING sexy about that
costume. If I had to choose between THESE costumes in this day and age, I wouldn't even GET to celelbrate Halloween!!

Normally I'd think these were aimed at older teens too, then I saw Noah Cyrus' costume getup:

MrBEG told me that I needed to start skanking up my Halloween outfits so that our kids would develop an aversion to that look.

ITA .. I don't get it either... Our costumes have always been on the side of funny or cute.. One year I made a "hershey kiss" costume for my daughter which on its own would have been way too short... I added some white leggings for her... simple. Companies would not be doing this if there wasn't a market for it.. Ultimately, it is up to the parents to monitor what their daughters are wearing. |
