Lining the inner rims - Do you do it? What do you think of the look? |
Lead | ||
|
I am torn on this one. I never used to do it but the last year or so I have made some attempts at it. With my new MAC Greasepaint sticks I am playing with it
again and while this product seems to do a pretty decent job I'm not so sure the look isn't a bit much. It's an odd and pretty unnatural look if
you ask me. I like it sometimes when I see it but other times I think it looks just strange. So, I'm wondering what other do? Do you play with this
look? Do you line this area daily or just for a night out or not at all? If you line the inner rim do you do anything different with your other makeup?

LOVE the look for night, it really helps define my face... that is why it's SUCH a great look for pictures...
During the day, it's a little much (Especially for a girl who spends half the day running around a tee vee studio and the other half chained to her desk), during the day, I like tightlining and then only on the top lashes.... --Dommy! |

When I've done it, I ended up with ugly black eye boogers by the end of the day.
Personally I don't care for the look on myself or on others.

I see this look and love it on other people. On me it just ages me a bazillion years. Burn holes in a blanket.
It's just too harsh looking on me.

I do the outer portion only...if I do the whole thing it makes my eyes look smaller.

I do mine, now that I have bangs it gives me more of a rock-chick look, which I love. I don't necessarily just do my inner rims though, I also do a smokey
black into my lower lashline and blend like mad.

I do the same as Citygirl, I line the outer half with black liner and the inner half I use a pale color liner such as Stila Topaz. Gives a more natural look.

Well I have issues with eyeliner.. I can't do my lower lash line at all, unless it's inner rim! I have smallish eyes though, so lining the inner rim
can be risky - but the secret for me is to just do the center of my lower lash line. With black, I almost do a "dot" in the center bottom.. just
wide enough to be seen. My best results have come with this Deep Olive liner I have.. it's not so dark that it makes my eyes small, but it's dark
enough that it gives some detail and definition. I also like charcoal gray.
I am interested in the MAC greasepaint liners because I definitely have "staying power" problems with my soft pencils.. but I think if anyone's not a lover of the inner rim, try just lining the center only! I guess it could come off too "doll-like" but subtle and natural is NEVER my eye look of choice! I sometime break my own rule of "no mascara on the lower lashes" and use Maybelline Lash Discovery waterproof when I do a dramatic inner rim lining - like plum. But for every day like at the office, I will just do my "center only" trick and go with it. I go so heavy on my mascara that I think it balances something out for me. I do agree with the aging factor.. and the eye boogers. Both perils of inner rim lining. But for me the payoff is worth it. |

I think it makes my eyes too small. I have more asian shaped eyes and I think I look beady with it. But I love it on other people...

It looks wrong on me. It didn't look right on me when I was 13 in 1984 (I will never forget the look on my best friend's mother when she saw me!), and
it doesn't look right on me today. I guess my eyes are too small or I don't know what. I have a lot of trouble getting eyeliner to stay on at all
anyway. I rarely line lower lash line; if I do, it's more of a light smudge along the outer half. In general, I don't like the look. I do admit on some
people it does look really good. In fact, when I do notice, I'm amazed people can get it to even stay on. I don't really think about it, as in who I
think it works on who it doesn't.

I only do it at night, but it really defines my eyes in pictures.

It can work on some women but it can make eyes appear smaller. It's great for women who wear eye glasses because they want their eyes to pop more.

I think it's a great night-time look (can be harsh during the day but it all depends on the person and application!). I have a hard time finding something
that'll stay on but not make my eyes feel dry. (Using L'OReal HIP cream liners -- they stay on like crazy but make my eyes feel dry sometimes).

I sport the smokey eye during the day (including lining around my eyes and inner rim) since I rarely go out at night anymore. So why deprive myself? I have
very small eyes and lids to begin with so the smokey lined eye for me doesn't look heavy at all. I personally don't think I could sport this look
without the smokey eye though. The contrast is too great and its just not for me...looks too 80's. Sometimes I go heavy on the liner and sometimes I
don't, depends on the color of the shadow and my attitude. I only use waterproof so that it lasts on my all day long. NYC color makes good pencils.
There are days where I wear a light shadow and keep my eyes simple and line my inner rim but I do so very lightly so that it doesn't look overdone.

I love the look on myself. I have large eyes and actually like that doing it can make them appear a bit smaller and in proportion to the rest of my face..

I did it in the 80s but had a hard time with eye infections and irritations. I have tried the look every 10 years or so and it continues to make my eyes look
smaller and a bit harsh. I prefer a smudgy line of plum or brown on my lower lash line for definition without irritating my eyes or making me look too old.

I like the look a lot. Rocker girl habits die hard.I don't wear it every day, but once in a while I rock this look during the day. I mainly save it for
nights out!
