I have the Anstasia stencils... however... I have lopsided brows... I let them grow (about 8 weeks of no massive tweazing (that is HORRIBLE BTW)). When I went
in the brow girl said to me "do not TOUCH your brows... NOT.AT.ALL. I said "well I have these stencils. She says 'yes you may very well have them
but you are not to use them until I get you fixed. WHOOPSIES.

I have mine waxed as needed and pluck the really bad ones in-between. I just found a new lady that I love! I'm trying NOT to tweeze too much so I can let
her get them looking their best.
I also lighten mine a bit with Jolen cream bleach and this helps to match my hair better.

I either visit my waxer or a threader every 3 weeks ish. If I do them myself, I really make a mess.

I used to wax but noticed a few years ago that the hair was NOT growing back in in a few spots. That ended it for me. Now I tweeze. I read somewhere that you
should tweeze once a month; this way, the brows grow the same way and they always appear to be groomed at the same level. I do this now and it works! CJ

Tweeze only.
After 25, imho the rapid exfoliation of that delicate area, and taking off all the fine hairs, results in premature aging of the eye area. With tweezing, you take only what you want, where you want. --Cindy |

I tweeze them every single day. Years ago we had a thread about how people groomed their brows and someone mentioned they also trimmed some that grew extra long. A light bulb went off in
my head and I started to do the same which gave me a much more groomed look. Don't know why I had to read about it to be able to take a small pair of
scissors to a few over long hairs. |

I have my brows waxed every 6 weeks or so, and in between I tweeze the strays. For me, waxing is much quicker and less painful than sitting there while someone
tweezes...it just makes it last longer and hurts more, IMO.

Wax and shape with tweezer for me and my clients.
Just like the hairs stop growing back from repeated tweezing.. same with repeated waxing. If a client requests tweezing only or cannot get waxed due to medications she might be on (like Accutane, retin-A, anti-biotics) or a condition (like diabetes), then I will tweeze her without waxing. Might cost more because obviously there is more time involved, but that's always the client's option. I do it under a magnifying lamp so I get all of the hairs out... even the ones she can't see yet. There's a waxing technique to prevent an "oops" from happening. If you are happy with the person you are currently using, great.. If you are looking for someone new, go to an esthetician (a skin care specialist)... just a personal recommendation based on what I've seen over the years. Olga

*waves to Kikiaz my eyebrow twin!* What do you do to get them looking presentable? I dye mine (so they actually show up, natural blonde here) and when
I'm feeling adventurous I color them in lightly with some sort of powdery product (depends on my hair color, lol). I am just so jealous of ppl with nice
dense eyebrows with normal-length hairs. I inherited my eyes and brows from my dad -- lucked out in the eye color, got screwed with the brows, though! LOL

I tweeze my own as needed. I used to go get them threaded, waxes, or tweezed regularly, but that was before my full-time job. I tried to keep up with it, but
there just isn't enough time. I haven't gotten them done professionally in years. I love doing my own now, it took a while for me to get used
inflicting that much pain on myself, but now I'm used to it. I actually get compliments on my brows all the time.

Daena Cat, I pencil mine. I haven't tried brow-tech (from Smashbox, like a powder that comes with a wax product) although I would like to - but my brow
girl says it doesn't work and isn't easy to use. So I end up just doing pencil and drawing them in sort of, but I use such light strokes that it
doesn't look dramatic enough, and if I do put a lot on it seems too "fake". I just can't find a happy medium! She trims mine because
they're sooo long, but I just don't have a lot to work with, shape-wise. They are also white-pale in some parts, which is weird because my regular
hair is so dark! But a lot of my brows are snow white, which adds to the "fuzzy and no definition" look I am trying to avoid! I have dyed them, but
only red when I was drying my hair red too.
If I try the Smashbox brow tech stuff, I will let you know! It might be a miracle cure! |

Brow Tech (to me) looks fake and doesn't last a darn. The Model's Prefer (now YBF) is pretty good and lasts longer.

If you tweeze or wax only the hairs that make your brows look unruly, why would you want them to grow back?
When I was in my 20s, I experimented on my own with different shapes and that ruined the ends of my brows, but now that I have a shape and just maintain it, I wouldn't care if the stray hairs ever came back.

The first time my brows were plucked was by a professional. She did them well; only too thin. I have a natural arch which I maintain myself with plucking. IMO,
waxing brows is unwise as it stunts growth. I've been waxing other areas for for over ten years and notice less regrowth plus the follicles are thinner.
You never know when you might want a thicker brow. So, that's why I stick to tweezers plus one hair can change the shape, only a plucker can be that
precise.
Eyebrows are so important, I do my sister's and a few of my friends' eyebrows to give them a flattering shape and then they maintain it. Eyebrows frame the face, they can give you an eyelift, make you look younger and make your eyes pop. Women who have puppy eyes benefit greatly I think because it lifts the eye up. By the same token, overdoing them makes one look trashy and cheap. |

with all due respect.. isn't that the whole point of waxing? |

Thanks everyone for the replies, I appreciate them. I went to someone who did threading, I got a little nervous when I found she spoke no English. I kept
saying not to thin, not to thin, she looked blankley at me. I said I will be right back and hit the door running. I'm going to look for a shop that does
tweezing since I seem to not do well with waxing.

OlgaH, yes that's the precisely the point. If you wax your eyebrows and they're fairly thin and then you decide
you may want thicker brows, you may not be able to because you've stunted the growth by waxing. Hair on your underarms, vulva, legs etc. isn't the same
as eyebrows. Your eyebrows are always visible. I don't know of any woman who laments slower hair growth/thinner follicles in places other than their brows.
Brows are different. Sometimes, I let mine grow to have them thicker. I'm grateful for that option.

well, I guess I should be grateful that my clients generally don't want all that regrowth.
that said.. another thing to consider with regrowth is the color.. if someone is over 40, brow hairs usually grow in gray/white and personally, I don't recommend permanent coloring on brows.. pencil.brow powder, yes.. dye-ing them, no .. I've never seen them come out right.. I can always tell and on the brows, it just doesn't look good. again.. jmho |

Kiki, yes please let me know if that works for you! I tend to use an eyeshadow to fill mine in -- I find pencils are too harsh on me. One reason I like using
shadow is I can change it as my hair color changes (I don't color them to match of course but will stay in the same family of colors.) But I DO dye them on
occasion (if my hair is dark) b/c it looks even weirder to have them filled in and then the blonde hairs on top. I am not too worried about it looking fake --
my hair is pink, natural is not a look I am going for. LOL Even fi i dye them DARK, I have to fill them in with powder for them to even show up.
